If Pluto was demoted to dwarf planet why was asteroid Ceres promoted to dwarf planet?

maybe its in a limbo state, and will be back to an asteroid soon. i personally dont care. i wish it was black and white. sun, 9 or 8 planets, moons , asteroids. but its a jungle out there.
