I think a cat left the germ of distemper/some disease in our house how do we get rid of it?

To tell you the truth I don't' know but you know you would know. THE VET. call and tell them the whole story and ask what they think the stray had and what animals can cathcit and how to prevent it. you should be calling the vet not on here asking us truly.
